Welcome everyone and enjoy your stay! First off a little about me, I grew up in a Christian household, but the closest thing to "Church" I was involved with was an after-school day care church. When I was about eight my parents decided it would be a good idea for me to start attending a weekly Bible study, but this was very short lived, about three weeks max. Once I was maybe ten or eleven I switched to a closer school and I no longer attended the day care. For the following few years there was very little church activity until I was a young teenager. I began going to church almost weekly where I really tried to believe. I can remember at least two different occasions where I would pray along during service and accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior, but I never felt like it was actually doing anything. This is when I truly began questioning my faith. Ironically, it was my parents that always told me to question everything. Things as simple as "Why does God allow this and that to happen?" and "Why did God make this work like that?" The questions grew and grew until eventually I decided to look them up myself. After I learned more about why and how certain things work I began to move further from the church. The transfer was a slow process at first, like many others moving on with their beliefs I couldn't fully accept that the omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent God was not there. This is when I became agnostic for a short period. There were just so many problems with religion that did not add up and I was still afraid that there could be a God. This was the case until I came across a few Youtube Atheists. They have been the biggest motivation in my religious battle and it would feel wrong not mentioning them. Shortly after watching a lot of their material I began to finally establish my new faith. Philhellenes has an amazing video that sums it up very well, "Science saved my Soul." After seeing this for the first time I became very interested in his other material and I just could not get enough. I moved on to Thunderf00t, TheAtheistExperience, and eventually TheThinkingAtheist. There are so many people who commit their time and effort to help fight for what they believe and it is inspiring.
